Have you ever wondered how to have your WordPress post make it all the way to number 1 on the WordPress Hot Community Posts?  I have two words that may help:

1. Club

2. Penguin

I am not going to try and pretend that this blog should have posts on the Hot Community Posts because it shouldn’t but why does Club Penguin Posts have several posts listed in the top 100 WordPress posts?  What are they doing that others aren’t?  What the heck is Club Penguin?

What Comes To Mind When You Think WordPress

In the spirit of Plain Blog plainess let’s play a word game.

Here are the rules:

1. Your answer can only be one word.

Let It Snow!

Would you like it to snow on your WordPress site?  Well it can but only until January 4th 2009.  Just go to your Dashboard and then click on extras found under the category Appearance.  There you will find the option to turn on the snow.  So cool… brrrr

CNN, This Is How You Add An Avatar

Something that is starting to drive me CRAZY!  Blogs that make it into the Blogs of the Day and they haven’t even figured out how to add an Avatar to their blog.  They can write good enough material to make it into the BOTD but they have a boring/plain Avatar.  As I write this there is one of these plain Avatars setting at #2.  It is CNN Politics: Has Palin snubbed Oprah? If CNN doesn’t have a clue then how many other bloggers are blogging with a boring Avatar?

Don’t worry becuase I am going to give you step by step directions on how to add an Avatar.

Step 1: Log into your WordPress account.

Step 2: Once you log in to your account click on the name of your site located underneath your boring Avatar (left side of screen).

Step 3: This step use to be more simple but now we have WordPress 2.7.  Don’t worry because it is still easy enough.  Find the Users heading.  Now click on the arrow to the right of it.  A menu will drop down and you should see a Authors & Users, Your Profile, and Invites.  Click on Your Profile.

Step 4: On the right side of the screen you will see My Picture.  This is wear you can upload a picture of your choice from your computer.  The picture should be the same width and height.  If you need to re-size a photo I prefer Photobucket.  Once your done browsing for a photo click Upload Image.

Step 5: Now you will see Crop uploaded image.  Click on the bottom right dotted-line and your picture should crop to the correct place.  Now click Crop Image.

Step 6: All Done! That’s it.  I have had to wait up to half an hour to see my new, shiny, Avatar.

PS: Remember that even if you choose an ugly picture for your Avatar it will be much, much better than a generic generated Avatar that WordPress provides.  Come on CNN, it is time to change your Avatar.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Site

I have two blogs.  This one and another that I am not going to tell you about

The other blog I have put my heart and soul into.  I almost have 10,000 hits which is fairly normal for as long as the blog has been on.  This blog is just my “I am not going to try very hard blog.”  Well I haven’t and this blog has had on average more hits than my first love.  Why have I had more hits on this site?  Well I will give you three tips.

1. Write a post that is really catchy in the headlines.  My example is I jumped on the bandwagon of Sarah Palin and the bikini incedent.  I claimed that I had pictures of Sarah Palin in a Bikini.  Well if you want to see this post then go here: Sarah Palin in a Bikini

2. 3.
